4th of July is right around the corner and here are some ideas for celebrating the day.
Places to Celebrate: The Bay Area Peninsula has no shortage of celebrations this 4th of July. Whether you're looking for something to do throughout the entire day or just for a handful of hours, check out any of these options:
- Foster City 4th of July Celebration. Having grown up in the peninsula, I have seen this event really evolve into an amazing celebration of our nation. This ALL DAY birthday party starts at 9 am and concludes around 9:30 pm. The morning kicks off with a pancake breakfast by the Foster City Rotary Club, followed by many family activities (including a dog parade). This celebration concludes with a beautiful fireworks show over the lagoon.
- Palo Alto Chili Cook-Off. Chili Lovers, Rejoice! Come out to the City of Palo Alto's 36th Annual Chili Cook-Off. Have a killer chili recipe? Put it to the test at this cook-off. Over $2000 in prizes to various winners, including the Best Overall Chili and the People's Choice. Join this hot competition between 12 - 5 pm.
- Redwood City Festival: Redwood City is celebrating it's 150th Anniversary as a charter city. The overall theme for this festival is "Celebrate Redwood City 150, 1867-2017. Start the day with a 5K run or if running is not your thing, join the Redwood City Fire Department for a delicious breakfast. Then, make your way to the parade and the festival where the battle of the bands will take place between U.C. Davis and Stanford.
